2024 Selection
An applicant and her guardian being interviewed by the local TaC committee Out of 157 (!) applicants, TaC is able to sponsor 37 young talents through four years of secondary school. A new record for us, but applications are also on an all-time high. Applicants present themselves for an interview, ideally accompanied by their guardian, are shortlisted according to transparent criteria and finally visited unannounced at their homes to verify the information. Home visits
This week, TaC volunteers have visited the guardians over 30 orphaned and vulnerable children who applied for our sponsorship for secondary education. These visits help us to understand more about candidates’ family backgrounds and validate the information we are given in the application form. We can therefore make sure that we focus our support on those in real need. In the next few weeks, students in Kenya will have places allocated at secondary schools. For those we select

Franziska’s time in Nyanza
Franziska meeting several TaC beneficiaries. Earlier this June, Franziska, a Swiss volunteer, took a field trip to Nyanza visiting a number of the children supported by Teach a Child – Africa (TaC).
