TaC students met at Ng'iya Girls' High School for the 2025 Annual Gathering

On 28th December, TaC students gathered at Ng'iya Girls' High School in Siaya for the 2025 Annual Gathering. It was a much-anticipated occasion, giving the children an opportunity to meet one another in person. As they attend many different schools, most students only know a small number of fellow beneficiaries, so this time together was especially valuable.

Over three days, the children took part in a series of talks and activities centred on the theme ‘Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults’. Safeguarding is a vital topic, both for the children and for us as TaC volunteers. Children from disadvantaged backgrounds can be particularly vulnerable to abuse, whether at home, at school, or within the wider community, and it is essential that they are informed and supported.

During the sessions, the children learned about their rights, the different forms of abuse, and how to recognise situations that may place them at risk. They were also shown how and where to seek help if they ever feel unsafe or concerned.

Alongside the learning sessions, each child was interviewed and photographed to ensure our records remain up to date and to help identify any emerging needs. All the students also received a medical check-up, with medication provided where required.

The Annual Gathering is always a motivational event, and 2025 was no exception. The children were encouraged to remain focused on their studies and to work hard towards their goals. We were also delighted to welcome former TaC students who have progressed to university and beyond, sharing their experiences and serving as inspiring role models.

Our sincere thanks go to all the TaC volunteers who worked so hard to make this Gathering a success, and to our generous supporters whose contributions made it possible.
