Lavis working at JKIA airport

Meet Lavis, an alumnus of Teach a Child - Africa. Lavis grew up in a small village in Siaya. His father, the sole breadwinner in a family of six, died in 2004, when Lavis was only 9 years old.

Life became tough, but Lavis was committed to studying. He finished primary school with excellent marks, but there was no money to pay for secondary school.

Lavis’ academic talent and determination towards education convinced TaC to award him a full scholarship for four years of secondary learning. After his exams, Lavis was called to Egerton University. After his graduation in 2021, he landed a job at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA). Lavis just successfully passed his trial period and is now a proud airport staff at the Ground Operations department, dealing with International cargo and domestic flights at Kenya‘s largest airport. Education and determination made this possible!
